"Zone" incorporates solo dance performance and transforms a Line Chatbot into a real-time interactive medium, allowing participants to engage in conversations with the chatbot to access different audio and image files within the space. Through this interactive experience, the aim is to explore the relationship between digital avatars and societal collective awareness. The choices and responses of participants also represent individual expressions or silences when confronted with social issues and ethical decisions, thus revealing the invisible landscapes within society.
Such an interactive experience seeks to provoke deeper reflections on the relationship between the individual and society. Participants, through conversations and interactions with their digital counterparts, can observe their minds and choices when facing the society.
Conceived as a collaborative curated by Anna Burd, Artistic Director of the Israeli Rollo Art Project, and Yi-Wei Keng, Theatre Advisor at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying), this online curation project brings together artists from Taiwan and Israel. The project revolves around the themes of "Here" and "There," with the artists divided into two groups tasked with creating continuous artworks within a 24-hour time frame.
At the core of Rollo's curatorial values is the aspiration to foster meaningful artistic connections among artists from diverse backgrounds. The time-limited nature of the Rollo project adds an element of unpredictability, allowing artists to engage with each other's work with heightened objectivity due to the compressed timeline.
This particular work attempts to unravel the threads of contemporary boredom and emptiness during the pandemic, using elements of Taiwanese pop culture. In a society inundated with LED signals, loneliness is likened to an old melancholic ballad, unfolding over the course of a single day.
"The Wall" is composed of fragmented pieces, revealed from a wall, only ambiguous and elusive glimpses. It thrives in mistakes and finds liberation in misunderstandings.Through the view of a disabled social media influencer with a million followers, we peer into the lives of family bullied on the border between two nations, where daily existence revolves around passport inspections.
As a pastry chef from the West and a traditional pastry artisan from the East come together, their relationship crumbles, forcing every family member to make choices about their own belonging.
Through various surreal fragments, "The Wall" explores the impenetrable barriers between government and individuals; the divide between the virtual world and reality; the tension between the society and those with disabilities; the boundary between fantasy and reality; and the unbreakable walls that exist between human beings.
